Winnetou
Our brand for typically North-American food products.
Our Winnetou brand stands for the adventure in food experiences from the Americas. One of these is illustrated by our Winnetou label for Canadian Maple Syrup. Maple sap is collected from the Sugar Maple tree of North America, when frosty nights and warm days signal an end to the long, cold winter. This natural and mostly organic product is then boiled down in evaporators into pure maple syrup - one of nature's unique gifts. It is an ideal compliment for pancakes, crepes, ice cream and fresh fruit salads. It is also ideal as a flavorful natural sweetener for soya dairy beverages and yogurt, and is also used in baking, cooking and the preparation of sauces.
Other food products featured under the Winnetou brand include typically North-American vegetables, fruits, fish and many other traditional foods from the Americas.
Winnetou was the Apache Indian Chief hero in a series of popular best-sellers written for young people at the beginning of the last century, by German author Karl May. These action books - several entitled Winnetou - depict the adventures of frontier men in North American Indian territory at that time, and have become very famous with the public at large.
Karl May's books have been translated into over thirty languages, and one can still find these titles briskly being sold throughout Europe. Annual festivals in Bad Seeberg, near Hamburg, Germany, are still celebrating Winnetou, and the adventures that Karl May wrote about.
